BOC Foundation for Environment was established in 1990. The UK based foundation was established to fund air and water quality projects and has been involved in many projects thereafter. Some of the ongoing projects include roadside emission testing review, development of clean fuel cell technology, oxidation techniques for combusting pharmaceutical toxic waste, evaluation of photovoltaic for solar power, investigation of ozone depletion and many more.
BOC Foundation has been funding several projects concerned with protection of environment and conservation of natural resources. They also present awards to students with practical ideas on environmental issues ranging from recycling to preservation of air and water resources. They have also undertaken the project of recycling mobile phones and the profits are donated to charitable causes, such as The National Autistic Society.
The foundation has awarded a grant to Hydrogen Solar for the development of scalable photo-catalytic hydrogen production with the use of Tandem Cell array so as to produce carbon-free, sustainable hydrogen directly from sunlight and water. Apart from these, BOC Foundation also supports a number of medical research programs including clinical trials and patient care opportunities. Studies on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and lung cancer, and bronchiolitis, a type of lung infection, have also been sponsored by them. They have also been actively involved in development in the field of chemistry.
With an array of projects in the fields of education, environment and medicine, they have been offering encouragement and financial assistance to the researchers and have been contributing in the betterment of society.
